Community Aid

Our work donating meat first started in 2015 when a beloved customer inquired about donating and delivering a CSA Share to the St. Johnsbury Food Shelf. His great idea sparked something inside us! Then came along another very generous customer and another who became major donors to the quantity of meat we now deliver. With the guidance and encouragement (and even delivery assistance!) from these community members, we have grown the donation program in a way that now delivers hundreds of pounds of meat each month to various food pantries and non-profit organizations. The receiving communities currently stretch throughout the Coös, Grafton, Essex and Caledonia counties of NH and VT. There is a clear need for this work to expand in our region which became especially apparent during the hardships many families have seen during the pandemic. For many years our donation options have been spread by word of mouth, but we now have added approachable options on our website to further the work and to utilize the assistance. Check them out below!

  • Add Mutual Aid to your CSA

Add $10 a month to your CSA subscription to support the network of local food pantries we have a delivery program to in our Northeast Kingdom and North Country region.

Collectively, the CSA Membership has the ability to make a significant positive impact for the local community in need by becoming a CSA Mutual Aid Sustaining donor.

This aid will primarily benefit but is not limited to The St. Johnsbury Food Shelf, Good Neighbors Franconia Food Pantry and Taproot Farm & Environmental Center.

  • Other ways to Donate

Donate one of our pork, chicken or beef bundle boxes to our community aid program which will directly benefit local families in need. Simply select one of the “Pantry Donation”options at checkout on any of bundle pages.

Looking to become a Major Donor? Please contact Meryl at prospectfarmvt@gmail.com to coordinate a plan. We are receptive to adding new meat beneficiaries to our delivery network or can act as a liaison to determine where your donation would have the greatest impact.

What People Are Saying

"When I moved to the area 6 years ago, I didn't want to just live here. I wanted to be part of the community. Donating my CSA share to the St. Johnsbury Food Shelf just makes sense to me because it supports a family farm that I value and it supports the community where I work. If any like minded individuals are interested in donating, I highly suggest reaching out to Meryl.”
