Prospect Farm is a diversified livestock farm, nestled along the Connecticut river of Vermont We are committed to raising heritage breed animals, humanely and holistically in harmony with nature. We use rotational grazing patterns that mimic each animal's natural lifestyle, providing them with the healthiest living environment. By doing what comes naturally we are able to offer our beloved northern region honest, pasture-based meat of exceptional quality.
PORK
We raise Large Black, Berkshire and Tamworth pigs, and are a farrow {birth} to finish operation. Our pigs live outdoors between pasture and the woods, rooting up forage and crops that we specifically plant for them. In the winter they eat a lot of hay to make up for winter's lack of green.
POULTRY
We raise chickens and turkeys in movable houses. This allows them a large space to roam, scratch and forage around naturally. We move our birds every day so that they only have access to the cleanest and healthiest feed available.
BEEF
We raise a variety of heritage breed cattle, using strip grazing methods that quickly move the herd around our property over several acres. By quickly moving them through small spaces this promotes the health of our land while also ensuring our cattle eat their "veggies with their dessert."
